Hi! I’m Luke. At Shining Rock, I’m the sole developer and I’m making games that I want to play. I’ve been gaming and writing software for 30 years and professionally making games for 20 years. Using my own spin on things and taking the best of what I see in other games I’m trying to create game experiences that I hope will be enjoyed by other gamers.
I worked in the game industry for ten years, coding graphics engines and tools for Playstation, Nintendo and Microsoft consoles and handhelds. After completing a final game as 2010 came to a close, I decided it was time to try something new. I set out to make my own games and explore more than just graphics. Shining Rock Software was started.
After spending three years developing my own technology and a first game, Banished was released! Now I'm working on my next game and improving the game engine that drives it.
Our first game is called Banished. It’s a city-building strategy game you control a group of exiled travelers who are restarting their lives somewhere new. The objective of the game is to keep the population alive and grow it into a successful city. The game was released on February 18, 2013.
Our next game is again a city builder, following a group of nomadic villages as they travel between remote islands. It's early in development, so check back every once in a while for more details
