Release 1.0.4

November 4, 2014 | Dukus | 20 Comments

Version 1.0.4 is now out of beta and has been released. It's up on Steam, and the content on Steam Workshop is now public to everyone.

For those of you not using Steam, you can download the latest version from either Humble, or GOG, depending where you downloaded. The builds should be up soon on their sites. Until then, you can download this patch (BanishedPatch_Any_To_1.0.4.141103.zip) to bring the game up to date. As always, just extract this archive into your Banished folder and overwrite any existing files.

The mod kit hasn't changed much, but there is a new release of it available on the Mod page.

Changes in this release:

  • - Increased memory usage allowed for save games. This allows larger modded maps than default to be saved safely. However at some point very large maps will crash the game due to out of memory, or textures failing to be created.
  • - Trade UI now expands automatically for orders.
  • - Fix a bug that caused mods to become unreferenced in save games when opening the mod dialog in game and then pressing cancel.
  • - Fixed a bug that caused mods that should be unloaded to stay in memory if they were loaded at game start. This fixed random ghost buttons on the toolbar.
  • - Fixed tutorials not progressing properly.

  1. Thanks for the update 🙂
The mods the community are making are fantastic, makes the game even better!

  2. The mod kit zip file is being reported as invalid when I try to open it. The full file appears to be downloading.

  3. I've really enjoyed this game since its release! Is there any plan to implement the Steam Cloud save? I bounce back and forth between computers a lot, and I would love to have my saves carry over with no hassle.

  4. Is there anyway you can change it so that not all mods disable achievements? Its kind of a bummer seeing as some mods just add new things in a none cheaty sort of way...

  5. Nevermind. I solved the zip file issue on my end by opening directly with 7-zip instead of letting Win7 try to do it.

  6. Thanks for the update Luke. Banished is an awesome creation and the modding community is making it even better! 😀

  7. Sweet!

Now that 1.0.4 has been released, are there going to be any enhancements to the game/mod kit in the future to expand on its capabilities?

  8. Hey there, ty for the update.
Again it is maybe time to update this website FAQ, e.g. "Banished will be released on February 18th, 2014" among others mentions like mod support is seriously out of date. 🙂

  9. Hello can you please fix a major bug where new familly wont move in old dead people empty houses ... its just silly to constantly destroy a empty house to build a new house at the same spot because people are probably scared there might be the ghost of an elder still living in there xD thank you all

  10. Thanks for the update! I know this is a big ask, but given that you were a graphics engine programmer, I'm wondering if you could beef up the lighting model for the game? I think it's a beautiful game especially given that it was done by one person, but some better shadowing would really help give the game world some depth - it can look a little flat as-is. Would it be possible to implement some form of ambient occlusion perhaps?

    Thanks for considering!

  11. Great job! Thank you for the fixes and updates!

I would love to see a flag on the mods window for which mods disable which achievements, and some kind of guide on what type of changes disable which achievements so us modders can make achievement friendly mods!
